Set into the Franschhoek Mountain and overlooking the Valley, the soaring arches and the view over the cathedral-like Pinot Noir Barrel Maturation Cellar below offer an experience which is not to be missed. On sunny days, guests can enjoy the beautiful vistas over Franschhoek from the terrace, while on cool days a roaring fire creates a cosy atmosphere. Haute Cabrière’s menu revolves around seasonal availability of produce, which is sourced locally or grown organically on the farm. Our chefs, Westley Muller and Nic van Wyk work closely with Cellar Master Takuan Von Arnim to create a true marriage of food and wine. Chefs Nic van Wyk and Westley Muller venture up north to bring a marriage of food and wine to Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban. Essentially born into the family business, Takuan has been involved in Haute Cabrière from an early age. Sharing his parents’ passion for wine, he formalised his knowledge by studying wine growing and cellar management in Germany; he further honed his skills working in cellars and vineyards in Germany, France and Australia. Should you wish to nibble on something while doing a wine tasting, the cheese board is still available. Haute Cabriere’s decomposed sandstone soils on the left side of the farm are ideal sites for Chardonnay, while the stony, clay-rich west facing slopes are perfect for Pinot Noir, which is known to be one of the world’s most demanding cultivars. Vegan-friendly, and made using only natural ingredients, these decadently delicious, adults-only frozen treats can be enjoyed and shared at any time of the day. They are the ideal addition to a braai or picnic, and a refreshing treat at the end of a long day. They work beautifully as an aperitif, a palate cleanser, or even an alternative dessert. We will deliver your products directly to your door. Achim is an artist, poet, cellar master, visionary and most certainly a pioneer in the South African wine industry. Sharing his parents’ passion for wine, he formalised his knowledge by stu. Our outdoor area is limited and we try to accommodate all guests in their preferred area of the restaurant. Please note that dinner is only served inside the restaurant. Popsicles will be delivered frozen & separately to your wine order due to the sensitive nature of the product. Made using only 100% natural ingredients, the Tranquille Popsicles are the sweeter and fruitier of the two Popsicle flavours.
